Brittany Rolfe earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology from Arizona State University. She began college on a pre-med path, driven by a passion for science and helping others, but discovered a deeper interest in education through research and mentorship. In 2020, she joined Dr. Sara Brownell’s biology education research lab, analyzing introductory biology exams using Bloom’s taxonomy and large datasets in R. She presented her findings at multiple campus symposiums, gaining experience translating complex data into meaningful insights. During this time, she also worked as a tutor and undergraduate assistant, seeing firsthand how guidance, encouragement, and practical application shape student learning.
These experiences shifted her trajectory toward teaching. Brittany began her career at BASIS.ed, collaborating with talented colleagues to create supportive, engaging learning environments in middle-school science and mathematics. Over five years, she taught approximately 1,200 students, designing lessons that connected academic concepts to real-world contexts and encouraged curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving. Her philosophy centers on prioritizing the student experience—attending to both academic and personal growth while cultivating resilience, equity, and self-efficacy. Recognized for her impact, she was offered a leadership pathway toward Dean and Director of Students, driven especially by her commitment to supporting students facing social or emotional challenges.
Brittany returned to ASU in Fall 2025 to pursue a Master’s in Social and Cultural Pedagogy, committed to addressing systemic gaps that leave many young people undereducated and underserved. She recognizes how limited emphasis on meaningful learning, equitable opportunities, and critical thinking hinders student preparedness, and how insufficient support for teachers further exacerbates these issues. Drawing on her background in science, research, and classroom practice, Brittany aims to develop actionable, solutions-focused strategies for education reform—ultimately fostering learning communities where adolescents and young adults can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
