Sameena Hossain is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the ICAP Center for Teaching and Learning at Arizona State University, where she works with Dr. Michelene T. H. Chi and Dr. Kurt VanLehn.
She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence at Arizona State University in 2024.
Her research focuses on human-AI interaction, human-centered AI, AI-supported learning, and accessible computing. She designs and evaluates intelligent systems that support human learning, reasoning, and decision-making while preserving meaningful human engagement and agency.
Her current research investigates how generative AI can support educators in designing learning activities that promote deeper cognitive engagement, drawing on the ICAP framework. She also studies the integration of virtual reality and constructive learning activities in STEM education.
Her doctoral research focused on human-AI collaborative systems for accessible computer science education, including AI-assisted technical ASL gesture generation tool and immersive learning environments for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
Her broader research interests include the design and empirical evaluation of human-centered intelligent systems, human-AI collaboration, learning technologies, and accessibility.
