Long Bio

Joe Tamer serves as Interim Director of ASU’s Center for Education Through Exploration (ETX) and Executive Director of the CourseWorks alliance. During more than a decade at ETX, he has helped lead the Center’s educational, organizational, and strategic growth while overseeing the Inspark Science Network distribution channel. Joe served as Deputy Principal Investigator for NASA Infiniscope, part of NASA’s Science Activation network, which develops digital “learn-by-doing” experiences that bring authentic science and exploration to learners and educators. A lifelong educator, Joe spent 14 years teaching and leading in K–12 schools before joining ASU in 2016. Earlier in his career, he served in leadership of the NASA Ames Astrobiology Academy, a residential program connecting undergraduate students with authentic scientific research.
