Jillian Joiner is a Ph.D. student in Comparative Culture and Language at Arizona State University. She holds degrees in Economics and French Language and Literature. She has taught introductory and intermediate French language courses, as well as an introductory comparative culture course. Her research interests include European and Francophone film, media archeology, narrative embodiment, and experimental film mediums. Her research relies heavily on French and German critical theory. Her ongoing research includes an examination of self-reflexivity and immersion in virtual reality films, as well as the use of digital mapping in official memory projects. She is a founding member of the CareASU Symposium and was a CLAS Student Leader in 2020.
