Kai is an international graphic designer, commercial architectural designer, educator, and student. She believes in designing in harmony with the subconscious mind and the environment. This philosophy is based heavily on research and observations of human behavior, specifically on visual stimulations.
Kai's journey began in Thailand, where she was born and raised. At 15, she moved to the US, completed high school in Nevada, and earned a scholarship in computer science at Mesa Community College in Arizona. She later received a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Arizona State University. Her career took off when she moved to San Francisco and joined a notable graphic design firm. At just 22, she created one of the most recognized logos in the world, the arrow in the FedEx logo, a testament to her talent and potential.
In 1998, Kai expanded her knowledge by earning another bachelor’s degree, this time in interior architecture. She then returned to Arizona, where she developed a unique design philosophy that focuses on the subconscious mind, human behavior in decision-making, and sustainable living. This philosophy serves as the foundation for all the visual solutions in her projects. In 2017, Kai established a boutique design studio called 23byKAI. The studio’s mission is a testament to her resilience and commitment to her craft, always seeking to learn, provide remarkable designs, and create great connections with like-minded people.
