Barb Kiffmeyer, LMSW is a Faculty Associate and licensed master social worker with more than 25 years of experience working with children and families involved in court systems. She earned her Master of Social Work from Arizona State University and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Washington. Ms. Kiffmeyer has served for over 17 years as a Court-Appointed Advisor in Maricopa County Superior Court, where she has been appointed to more than 3,000 family-court cases involving child maltreatment, domestic violence, substance use, mental health concerns, and high-conflict parenting disputes. Her professional work includes forensic child interviews, parent interviews, record review, home studies, court reporting, and testimony. She currently serves as President of the Arizona Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), reflecting her leadership in interdisciplinary family law and child welfare practice. In addition to her court appointment, she trains and mentors Court-Appointed Advisors, presents at professional conferences, and consults with attorneys and families through her consulting practice, Family Court Strategies. Her teaching interests focus on applied social work practice, ethics, child welfare, and the intersection of social work and the legal system.
