Integrative Sciences & Arts
Amanda Straus holds a Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH), a Master of Science in the Science of Health Care Delivery (MS), and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Sciences from the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. These degrees equipped her with a deep understanding of behavioral health and management, which she utilizes in her work to promote the health of others.
Dr. Straus is dedicated to identifying upstream integrated health interventions to improve health outcomes among various populations. Throughout her career, she has prioritized the development of risk mitigation strategies and interventions that focus on preventive measures. She has developed and implemented a customized screening tool focused on risk identification and mitigation among active duty service members at multiple military installations. She has also prioritized the identification and improvement of veterans' health through statewide surveys and corresponding projects.
Currently, Dr. Straus works as the Senior Program Manager on a Department of Defense grant focused on the health of service members. To aid in disseminating key findings, she is actively involved in developing publications and presentations to raise awareness about the risk and protective factors affecting military members. This focus and dedication has contributed to additional study of factors affecting vulnerable populations, including novel treatment approaches.
In addition to her research experience, she has worked as an instructional professional and a graduate assistant, ensuring the prompt delivery of grades and feedback to students. She is committed to further learning and helping others achieve their educational and professional goals.
