Cody Hays is a nonprofit marketing expert with a 8-year track record of helping nonprofits build online relationships with donors. Driven by equity, Hays’s work with Marketing Mission has helped nonprofits raise more than $9.5 million dollars to advance social change.
Currently, Hays is delving deeper into the world of communications as a Ph.D. candidate at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. As a Graduate Research Fellow at the Media Information, Data, and Society (MIDaS) Lab, Hays is part of a team dedicated to studying equity in the media landscape.
Additionally, Hays holds the position of Executive Editor at the Journal of Public Interest Communications, a flagship journal in its field. He co-supervises the publication of peer-reviewed research, collaborating with a global network of practitioners sharing their work.
Hays has spent his entire career in the digital communications industry, working with over 50 nonprofits, such as the Legal Foundation of Washington, Children of Armenia Fund, Alabama Department of Education, Northern Arizona University, Future Business Leaders of America, Waterkeeper Alliance, and Reading Partners.
His work has been recognized by RivalIQ and Givebutter for exceptional digital campaigns, including ranking #1 for social media engagement and a nomination by Givebutter for Campaign of the Year.
Hays has led workshops and participated in panel discussions related to marketing and communications for nonprofits at the Public Interest Communication Summer Institute, DECA Western Regional Leadership Conference, Alabama Department of Education, Future Business Leaders of America, Network for Good, and Appalachian State University.
Hays is currently pursuing a doctoral program in Communications from Arizona State University, focusing on environmental communication. Hays holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication and Digital Strategy from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University.
