Suzanne Wilson is an award-winning communicator, storyteller and lifelong learner who believes good communication can make complex ideas easier to understand and connect people with the work that matters.
As Communications Manager & Senior Writer at Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University, Suzanne brings together her background in journalism, media relations and strategic communications to tell stories that help make research and public policy accessible to the people they affect. She works across Morrison Institute and its affiliated centers and initiatives, including the Kyl Center for Water Policy, helping researchers and policy experts connect their work with policymakers, media, community leaders and the broader public.
Suzanne spent several years with ASU’s Office of Media Relations and Strategic Communications before joining Morrison Institute, where she works at the intersection of research, public policy and storytelling. Her experience in both central university communications and a public policy research institute gives her a broad perspective on how research and ideas can move from the university into public conversation.
A two-time Sun Devil, Suzanne holds a master’s degree in communication and a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from ASU, along with a B.A. in Law & Society from the University of Calgary in Canada, where she grew up.
Before returning to ASU in 2017, Suzanne spent much of her career in news radio, including serving as an executive producer for a national radio newswire service. She planned and managed coverage of major news and entertainment events in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom—experience that continues to shape her approach to storytelling, media relations and communicating under pressure. She also served as communications director for a successful statewide campaign focused on working families in Arizona.
Today, Suzanne combines a journalist’s curiosity with a communicator’s strategic perspective and a healthy appreciation for a good story. She enjoys turning research into something people can see themselves in—and finding the human story behind the data, the policy and the headlines.
