Denise Whisman has served as the Senior Director of Emergency Management at Arizona State University since May 2023, and is responsible for establishing a consistent standard for planning, exercise, and response across the university's global footprint.
Prior to her current role, Denise served in emergency management roles in private healthcare, emergency medical response, non-profit emergency response, county government and the United States Navy. Her experience includes ensuring governmental compliance, risk assessment and management, process improvement, community instruction, exercise development and delivery, all-hazards mitigation, and a perfectly timed joke.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Denise has been actively engaged in volunteer work, including roles in the Search and Rescue Association, Police and Fire Advisory Committee, and the Emergency Services Local Emergency Planning Committee.
