Nikolaus Awtrey is a Lab Coordinator Sr. in the Physics Instructional Resource Team (PIRT) and a Visiting Researcher at Beckstein Lab, ASU. As a lab coordinator, he manages the physics demonstrations for lectures, provides support for lab courses, and supports Department of Physics outreach and events. His current research project is developing Kinetic Diagram Analysis, a Python library which uses stochastic kinetic diagrams to calculate steady-state observables for biochemical systems.
Nikolaus earned his B.S. Physics from ASU in 2020. During his time at ASU he held several positions within the physics department including Learning Assistant, Teaching Assistant, PIRT Student Worker, and Undergraduate Researcher. After graduation he accepted a Post-Bacc position at Los Alamos National Laboratory where he made contributions to various computational geometry and software engineering projects.
In his professional life Nikolaus enjoys teaching physics and programming concepts to students of all ages. At home he likes to spend time working on old cars and motorcycles, playing guitar, hiking, and spending time with his friends and family.
