Ira A Fulton Engineering
Jennifer (Jenny) Wong is an Instructor of Engineering with the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University with significant experience with education, leadership, and research.
As teaching faculty, Jenny's priorities are instructing classes. As her appointment is through Academic and Student Affairs, her main priority is supporting Introduction to Engineering, a course that introduces the engineering design process, working in engineering teams, the profession of engineering, engineering models, and written and oral technical communication skills to first-year students. In addition to teaching FYS, Jenny teaches third-year biomedical engineering students in classes like Methods in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biomaterials. Furthermore, Jenny engages with Engineering Projects and Community Service (EPICS) on their Global Intensive Experiences and within the EPICS coursework as an instructor.
Jenny is also an affiliated faculty member with the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. She works with a team to develop the curriculum for the Engineering components of the medical school's program.
In addition to instructing, Jenny creates and implements co-curricular experiences to give engineering students the ability to develop themselves outside of the classroom. Under her guidance and planning, the Fulton Schools created and launched the Fulton Accelerated Community Engagement (FACE) program to increase access to experiential opportunities and student persistence towards graduation. FACE supports FYS by creating opportunities to develop leadership skills and connect with resources that promote career and educational goal achievement while providing financial compensation. As the Director of FACE, Jenny's intention is to continuously develop the curriculum and deliverables the cohort engages with to guide these emerging leaders within engineering.
Jenny is nothing if not passionate about her work and is always looking for new opportunities to make an impact in both engineering and education. She is extremely excited by the growth that is currently underway within engineering education and wants to help shape it for generations of engineers to come.
