Dr. Gomez was born in San Miguelito, Sonora, Mexico in 1945. His family transfered to Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico where Dr. Gomez attended Secundaria (High School). In the mid-1960's the Gomez family migrated to Tucson, Arizona, where Dr. Gomez got his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Arizona. In 1997. Dr. Gomez got his doctorate from Northern Arizona University.
Dr. Gomez was an elementary bilingual teacher and a special education teacher for 8 years. He became principal of Davis Bilingual Learning Center, a magent school in Tucson, in 1981. In 1989 he was appointed principal of Roskruge Elementary and Bilingual Middle Magnet School from which he retired in 2000.
Dr. Gomez served in the Army Reserve for 20 years. He retired with the grade of major in 1991.
Dr. Gomez has been working at ASU since 2001.
Teaching content area knowledge and languge to English language learners. Specific methodology and strategies to incoporate into content area when teaching ELLs.
