As Senior Director for ASU’s Next Education Workforce, Lisa leads Next Education Workforce innovation partnerships with Arizona schools and systems. As part of this portfolio, Lisa oversees a three-year, $3.1M project focused on the intersection of team-based staffing models and high-quality instructional materials. She also leads strategy and operationalization for Next Education Workforce Site Visits, working collaboratively with school partners to host 600+ visitors from around the globe annually to see team-based models in action.
Lisa joined the Next Education Workforce team in 2019. She brings nearly 30 years of experience in PK-12 and higher education, including seventeen years as a classroom teacher. A former Peace Corps volunteer, Lisa has deep experience as a teacher and leader in elementary, high school, and community college settings and has worked in public district and charter settings. Lisa holds a bachelor’s from the University of San Diego and a Master of Education from UCLA.
With Brent Maddin, Lennon Audrain and Kaycee Salmacia, Lisa is co-author of Unlocking the Potential of Team-Based Staffing, published by Harvard Education Press in 2025. The book offers grounded guidance on building team-based staffing models and features stories from more than twenty-five educators and education leaders who are doing the hard, adaptive, and meaningful work of redesigning how schools are staffed.
Lisa lives in Chandler, AZ and spends her free time gardening, traveling, exploring the outdoors and generally moving about in the world.
