Alexey Gorbachev is a Master’s student at the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. Previously, he was a Fulbright Scholar from Russia and completed a graduate study program at ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2018–2019. Alexey is a broadcast journalist with Voice of America, the largest U.S. international broadcaster, where he specializes in investigative reporting on foreign influence in the United States, war analytics, press freedom, and human rights violations. In addition to his journalism work, he mentors the next generation of journalists and political leaders by teaching courses on public speaking, AI, American media polarization, and investigative journalism in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a sought-after guest speaker for national media outlets, providing insights on topics such as Kremlin disinformation, the Russian opposition, the economic impact of sanctions, the Russo-Ukraine war, and challenges to press freedom in Russia. From 2011 to 2018, he served as a political correspondent in Moscow, Brussels, and the United States, developing his expertise in global affairs and economics.
Alexey’s educational journey includes advanced training at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism in the UK, the Solidarity Academy in Poland, and the Moscow School of Political Studies.
