Javier, a first-generation student from Mexico, is a senior at Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University. With a background as a Marine and former US Diplomat specializing in logistics and security, Javier is pursuing a degree in Technological Entrepreneurship and Management at the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering and a minor in Real Estate at the W.P. Carey School of Business, showcasing his diverse talents and interests.
Dedicated to giving back to the community, Javier proudly serves as the President of the Polytechnic Student Veterans Club, where he fosters a supportive environment for fellow students. His expertise spans across financial planning, supply chain management, security training, and tactical operations, making him a valuable asset to the school community.
Despite his demanding responsibilities, Javier has excelled academically, maintaining an outstanding 4.0 grade point average while balancing his commitments as an active-duty Marine, work-study, mentor, and club president. Moreover, he is honored to be part of the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP), where he plays a pivotal role in the growth and training of Midshipmen at Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) for Officer Candidate School (OCS).
Javier's passion for mentorship and leadership extends beyond his academic pursuits. His involvement as a mentor for the Fleischer Scholars Program resulted in leading his team to victory during the Spirit of Entrepreneurship challenge, earning them first place and the esteemed Fleischer Scholars Program Outstanding Team Project Award. Additionally, his participation in the Los Diablos Scholars Program has allowed him to make a meaningful impact through volunteer opportunities with the Arizona Council on Economic Education (ACEE), positively influencing over 300,000 students and surpassing fundraising goals year after year.
As the President of the Polytechnic Student Veterans Club, Javier has worked tirelessly to create a tight-knit community for those transitioning from military service, organizing impactful events such as the Annual Veterans Ball and collaborating with various veterans' organizations to ensure the success of initiatives.
