Long Bio
Cheri teaches interior design courses in studio topics, construction documents, methods, and materials for interiors. Her studio courses focus on exposing students to contemporary issues facing interior design today, such as changes in the workplace and how design approaches can help create a healthier and more inclusive environment, social impact of interior design, personal spaces in interior design and factors that contribute to creating a home. Prior to entering academia, Cheri worked as an interior designer for 18 years at leading architecture and design firms across the globe, such as Gensler and Perkins+Will. Cheri’s area of expertise is in workplace interior design and is currently researching sustainable design approaches that enhance wellbeing and create more inclusive work environments. She has designed projects ranging in scale from small office spaces less than 5,000 square feet to large corporate headquarters greater than 2 million square feet. Her projects have been recognized by IIDA, ASID, and AIA. She received her degree in interior design from Florida State University and is NCIDQ certified. Cheri regularly serves the interior design community. She is an active member in IIDA and IDEC. She has served on the Southwest Region IIDA Board as the Phoenix City Center Director. In that role, she volunteered time to redesign spaces for at risk communities. She has been a juror for Interior Design Studio classes at Arizona State University, Art Institute of Chicago, and Illinois Institute of Art.
