I graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management degree from Northern Kentucky University.
As an Undergraduate student, I lived on-campus in traditional-style housing for all four years but commuted home to be with my family on the weekends. I was very involved in numerous student organizations on campus and held multiple leadership positions throughout each of them:
- National Panhellenic Conference: Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity. I participated in this social sorority throughout all four years of my undergraduate career. I served as the chapter's Treasurer and a committee member of our Standards Board, and also served as a "Gamma Chi" Recruitment Counselor during the Fall semesters of my junior and senior years.
- Presidential Ambassadors: After completing an interview process, I was selected to join this prestigious student organization. This group is responsible for guiding campus tours for prospective students and their families, volunteer at Commencement ceremonies and various large-scale University events, and serve as representatives for both the Office of the University President and the Office of Admissions. I was a regular member during my sophomore year, served as the Merit Coordinator during my junior year, and ultimately, as the President of the organization throughout my senior year.
- Student Government Association: As a sophomore, I was elected by my undergraduate peers to represent their voices to our Board of Regents. I ultimately served as a Committee Chair for both our Student Rights Committee and our Academic Affairs Committee.
During the Fall 2022 semester, NKU hired a new President, President Geoffrey Mearns, who would lead a 2013-18 Strategic Planning Committee. After being nominated and reviewed for selection, I was chosen by him to solely represent the diverse population of ~16,000 students, as the "Student Body Representative" on the Committee. I was chosen for my professionalism and for the knowledge and love I possess for the institution, and our committee helped guide the future of the university to its 50th anniversary.
After earning my degree, I attended Eastern Michigan University to pursue my Master of Arts (M.A.) in Educational Leadership - Higher Education in Student Affairs. I worked in the University Housing and Residence Life department for two years, first as a Hall Director for Walton Hall, and then as a Graduate Assistant for the Front Desk and Residential Operations team. I supervised teams of student staff and managed communities of approximately 1,000 residents. I also participated in 10-week ACUHO-I summer internship at the University of North Carolina - Asheville campus, where I supported the Embark Orientation sessions, Virtual Tours of each residential community, and the renovation of the South Ridge Residence Hall.
After graduation, I moved to downtown Chicago, where I worked at Roosevelt University, managing our housing and billing assessments and responded to after-hours crises. I briefly transitioned to Seattle, WA, and then to Arizona for personal reasons, and thus, began my career with ASU. I started on the Tempe campus, as a Community Director in the Hassayampa Academic Village, and later transitioned to the EdPlus division to support our ASU Online scholars using their Starbucks College Achievement Plan (SCAP) benefit.
I'm now excited to work as an Academic Success Advisor, Senior on the Tempe campus, for our University College - Exploratory programs. There are three main aspects to my role
- Academic Advising: By determining a student's interests, passions, time commitments, and/or career goals, I'll help them decide how many and which courses to take, discuss various major(s) and/or minor(s) that would best align with those paths, and help them understand the requirements for each of those processes.
- Career Support: I'll be supporting our Work+ learners to enhance their professional development opportunities within their student employment roles.
- Faculty: I'll be teaching several sections of an ASU 101 course during Fall semesters.
