Long Bio
Ljubomir Filipović is a Montenegrin political scientist specializing in foreign influence
and information integrity. He is pursuing his PhD at Arizona State University's School
of Politics and Global Studies, where he also works as a Teaching Associate in the
International Affairs and Leadership master's degree program.
He has worked with the Atlantic Council of Montenegro, UNDP, and the McCain
Institute, and has provided consulting and advisory services for numerous
international non-governmental, governmental, and media organizations in Europe,
the U.S., and Eurasia.
Filipović serves as the CEO of Edumonte, a holding company engaged in private
education that provides educational management consulting services across Europe
and Eurasia. He is also the Executive Director of the Center for Western Balkan
Studies (CWBS), a think tank founded by Ukrainian and Balkan experts. Additionally,
he is an Arizona State University World Innovator (AWI) at the university's
Leadership, Diplomacy, and National Security Lab (ASU LNDS). Filipović was
selected as a 2019 McCain Institute Next Generation Leader. He has authored
numerous articles, studies, and reports on topics related to security, information
integrity, and foreign influence. He is also a member of the expert pool at the
European Center of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE).
In 2022, alongside a group of exiled Russian academics, he co-founded the Faculty
of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Montenegro.
Filipović was the Vice President (Deputy Mayor) of the Municipality of Budva and
also served as Acting President (Mayor) of the same municipality. He was an advisor
and official of the Social Democratic Party. Additionally, he founded and chaired the
Budva Foundation and the Civic Initiative "21 May."
He is a columnist and analyst for CdM (Cafe del Montenegro), a leading Montenegrin
news website, and is frequently invited to provide commentary for regional and
global media outlets such as Al Jazeera, Euronews, Sky News, TRT, TVP, and
others.
