Irem received her Ph.D. in Mathematics at Temple University. Her research is on theory of Optimal Transport and its applications to geometric optics. She is also interested in data science and machine learning. She joined the mathematics faculty at ASU in Fall 2025. She loves teaching mathematics and working with students from diverse backgrounds and majors. She finds it very rewarding to watch her students' confidence and problem-solving skills grow over time. She taught several courses ranging from College Algebra to Calculus III and received departmental and college-wide teaching awards.
