Isabel Migoya Iriso is the Senior Coordinator of Convergence Lab, a project that seeks to connect the university with Mexican audiences and partners to explore topics of mutual interest through a series of public events and innovative ideas journalism. Since 2022, Isabel is responsible for content and execution of Convergence Lab’s programing and growth, and deepening of partnerships with Mexican universities, think tanks, media, and thought leaders. In 2023, Isabel coordinated the first edition of the US-Mexico Bicentennial Kaleidoscope: short film contest and festival.
Isabel is also the Managing Editor of The Great Game Lab, an initiative by ASU that explores the global convergence of sport, media, and geopolitics, as well as the United States sporting relationship with the rest of the world in preparation of the world’s biggest sporting event in 2026, and the Olympic Games in Los Angeles two years later.
Isabel began her professional path in the Department of Economic Affair at the Insituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior of the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores in Mexico. From 2014 to 2017, she worked at the Consulate General of Mexico in Phoenix, Arizona, where was responsible for the implementation and monitoring of social programs aimed at serving the Mexican migrant community in Valley of the Sun and northern Arizona in areas such as health, education, community development, and financial literacy. Isabel also produced and co-hosted the Consulate’s radio show Voces Consulares and drafted op-eds for local media outlets including La Voz (Spanish publication of The Arizona Republic). Moreover, Isabel collaborated closely with the Economic and Political Affairs Department monitoring the Arizona State Legislation and bills pertaining the Mexican community in the state.
Upon returning to Mexico, Isabel worked as a Project Assistant at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office in Mexico where she assisted in the research and management of the Cultural Department’s projects focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She planned and executed five international conferences hosted by the UNESCO Office in Mexico and helped edited five publications issued with the purpose of shaping local public policies regarding sustainability, human and cultural rights, and anthropology.
Isabel also served as the Membership and Events Coordinator for the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (COMEXI) where she managed the process of conference planning focusing on substantive framing, logistics, and dissemination in media of more than 30 high-profile and private events for Mexico’s leading foreign policy think tank. In 2021, Isabel joined the US-Mexico Foundation, a binational non-profit organization that seeks to foster understanding and cooperation between the United States and Mexico. As a Stakeholder Manager, Isabel conducted research on a wide variety of matters pertaining the bilateral relationship and planned and coordinated both the logistics and substantive framing of Convocation 2.0, a three-day gathering of 13 former US Ambassadors to Mexico and Mexican Ambassadors to the United States. Isabel also co-managed “Today in Latino History”, a project developed in partnership with Google and Arizona State University, that highlights the contributions of Latino culture in the United States and the world.
A native of Mexico City, Isabel is passionate about the relationship between the United States and México.
BA in International Relations from Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México.
MA in American Foreign Policy, Latin American Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
