Research Interests
I am interested in re-constructing the past environments of our early human ancestors in Afar, Ethiopia using sedimentology and detrital zircon geochronology. I am interested in showing how these sedimentary basins evolved through time in response to changes in climate, tectonism, and volcanic processes.
I am also interested in using surficial volcanic deposits (lava flows and tephra) to characterize a ~12,000 year old eruption of an unusually explosive monogenetic cinder cone in the Pinacate Volcanic Field in Sonora, Mexico.
