Christine 'Krickette' Wetherington is a passionate leader in social work and community development, bringing over two decades of experience in homelessness prevention, affordable housing, and nonprofit management. Dedicated to driving systemic change, she has a proven track record of championing impactful solutions for underserved communities.
Throughout her career, Krickette has held executive leadership positions, including Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, and Chief Programs Officer. She has played a key role in influential organizations such as Arizona State University’s Action Nexus, Valley of the Sun United Way, and various nonprofits, leading initiatives focused on homelessness response, financial stability, anti-poverty efforts, and community impact. With expertise in strategic planning, program evaluation, and public policy advocacy, she has been instrumental in shaping housing and social service strategies across Arizona.
Krickette has contributed her leadership to multiple committees and boards, including serving on the National Association of Social Workers, Arizona Chapter’s Executive Committee, and currently as a board member of the Maricopa Regional Continuum of Care. She has also participated in leadership and academic programs, including membership in Foundations of Racial Equity cohort with Funders Together to End Homelessness; a fellowship with Arizona State University Knowledge Exchange for Resilience; and participation in ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit’s American Express Leadership Academy.
Krickette is deeply passionate about teaching and mentoring students. In recognition of her commitment to education, she was honored with the Social Work Field Instructor of the Year Award (2021) from Arizona State University and the Heart of Social Work Award (2021) from the North American Network of Field Instructors and Directors.
