Alex Nelson is a collaborative, facilitative leader with expertise in community-driven programming, lifelong learning practices, and public and philanthropic systems. Her work has been dedicated to building individual and organizational capacity for learning, listening, and dialogue, with a steadfast focus on cultural equity. Her work with the Next Education Workforce team includes large-scale strategies for activating new community educator role development and design.
Prior to joining ASU she was Deputy Director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts where she worked on a number of major initiatives, including the Arizona Arts Education Research Institute, Rural Community Catalyst grants, AZ Creative Communities, and AZ Creative Aging. She has also worked as a teaching artist and production manager, and is a graduate of Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance and a MA in Creative Enterprise and Cultural Leadership.
