Faris Odish received a master’s degree in mathematics from Wayne State University, Michigan, and finished all courses for a Ph.D. in differential topology from ASU. He has taught at ASU since 1992, has taught almost all first and second‐year mathematics courses, and usually teaches the Calculus for Engineers sequence and coordinates these courses. For 15 years he has pioneered integrating technology (especially graphing calculators) into teaching these courses. Over the last 15 years he has presented several graphing calculator workshops per year for all first year math students and new faculty and teaching assistants. For 14 years he has been an instructor for T.A. training. He has served on many departmental and university committees. He is the recipient of the school’s Wexler Award for Outstanding Instruction and has been nominated for The Last Lecture Series and Who’s Who in America many times.
