Erwei Dong is Assistant Dean and Clinical Professor in Hainan University - Arizona State University International Tourism College (HAITC) at the ASU School of Community Resources and Development. He is also affiliated with Shanghai University of Sport (China), Shenyang University of Sport (China), Shandong University (China), Xi'an Eurasia University (China), University of Ryukyus (Japan), and Kyung Hee University (Korea), and University of KawaZulu-Natal as research professor, honorary professor, guest professor and visiting professor. He has received grants from many international agencies, such as Korea Foundation, Academy of Korean Studies, Heiwanagajima Foundation (Japan), Matsushita Foundation (Japan), Marriott Foundation (USA), Alabama Association of Resource Conservation and Development (USA), City of Shanghai (China), Humanity and Social Science Foundation of Ministry of Education (China), National Social Science Foundation, Hubei Recreation and Sports Research Center, and Guizhou Province of Sports Bureau . His research interests are leisure and culture, leisure and health, leisure and quality of life, and sport tourism. He is on editorial board of Leisure Studies, associate editor of Leisure Sciences, special issue editor of Journal of Leisure Research, and associate editor of Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism.He has been a keynote speaker in many international conferences in mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Turkey, South Africa, and United States. He appeared on the media such as China Global Television Network. China Daily, China Green Times, China Meteorological News, Insight China, Beijing Weekly, Okinawa Radio (Japan) and so on. He created and funded an endowment in the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue University to enable student travel to China for the study of Chinese art. He speaks Chinese, Japanese, English, and Korean.
