Passionate about student support, Kylie has worked in several higher education administrative roles to advocate for students by evaluating their needs and implementing the processes and resources that will help them feel supported and be successful. In particular, Kylie has demonstrated this through projects including: creating a Canvas orientation course for new graduate students in light of the pandemic preventing in-person orientation activities, designing a student success website called SOLS Grad Success to transparently deliver policies and resources, and streamlining the accelerated BS/MS application process in SOLS - particularly with consideration for online students due to the recent launch of the online MS in Biology.
Kylie's research interests focus on student support and success, particularly how higher education student interactions with and within their institution impact their ability to integrate and persist in their programs. Her interests consider how university staff and first-year support contribute to the self-efficacy and sense of belonging of students, and how those factors relate to retention.
