Brian Bornstein

Brian Bornstein was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He received his undergraduate degree at Duke University, spent a year as a Fulbright scholar in Munich, Germany, and obtained graduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania (MA, PhD) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (MLS). Before joining ASU in 2019, he held faculty appointments at Bucknell University, Louisiana State University, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he is Professor Emeritus. He served as Director of the UNL Law-Psychology Program from 2015-2017. He is also Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Dr. Bornstein's research focuses mainly on the reliability of eyewitness memory and how juries make decisions. He has more than 200 publications in his areas of expertise, as well as 21 authored or edited books, and has procured more than $3 million in external funding, from agencies like NSF and NIJ. He has taught a vareity of courses within cognitive, social, and legal psychology, as well as the history of psychology. Twenty-three graduate students have earned their PhD under his supervision.
