Justin Skinner is currently a PhD student in Environmental Engineering studying bacterial communities capable of degrading groundwater contaminants. He currently studies anaerobic bacterial communities capable of degrading Per and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance (PFAS). Additionally, Justin is involved with research partnered with the Center for Bio-Inspired and Bio-mediated Geotechnics (CBBG) through Haley & Aldrich as an industrial partner focusing on verifying manners by which to more effectively implement bacterial communities capable of aerobic cometabolism of groundwater contaminants.
Prior to joining ASU for his PhD studies Justin worked at two health department and earned a Master's degree in Water and Environmental Management from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Justin additionally worked for the Mexican environmental sanitation NGO Sarar Transformacion and holds a B.S degree in Marine Biology from the Honors College at the College of Charleston.
