John Lewis is an instructor in Information Technology at Arizona State University, where he teaches courses in cloud computing, cybersecurity, data systems, and network forensics. His teaching philosophy centers on bridging technical knowledge with real-world application, equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s evolving technology landscape.
John’s path to academia has been shaped by both challenge and transformation. A U.S. Army veteran, he developed a foundation of discipline, leadership, and adaptability in high-pressure environments. Following his military service, he navigated significant personal adversity and rebuilt his life through education, ultimately earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Information Technology from ASU.
In addition to his academic role, John has experience designing and implementing solutions across cloud computing, cybersecurity, and AI-driven systems. His work focuses on creating practical, scalable, and secure technology solutions that align with real-world organizational needs.
John is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Information Technology, where his research explores digital privacy, user awareness, and ethical technology design, with an emphasis on understanding how modern systems influence user behavior and decision-making.
Outside of academia, John is passionate about personal development, health, and mindfulness. He is deeply committed to breaking generational cycles and building a meaningful legacy for his family and children.
