Gregory Koop is the Director of the Undergraduate Campus-Immersion Psychology Program of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. Dr. Koop earned his doctorate in psychology at Miami University with a focus on judgment and decision making and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Syracuse University with a focus on recognition memory. Dr. Koop teaches courses online and on-the-ground in research methods, statistics, general psychology, and cognitive psychology.

My research explores how individuals make decisions. Specifically, I look at recognition decisions (“Have I met that person before?”) and decisions about one's preferences (“Do I want a latte or a coffee?”). Models of recognition and preferential choice often assume that people continuously accumulate “evidence” en route to making these decisions, so I use dynamic methods to depict this evidence accrual process. Additional research interests include the moral decision-making process and the impact of reference points (e.g., a goal or a minimum requirement) on an individual’s risk-taking behavior.
