John Leatherwood, MBA, CPM

John received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix and completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at the University of Phoenix.  John earned his Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Fire Science from Phoenix College. Additionally, John earned his Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation from Arizona State University. John is also Six Sigma Certified by Honeywell International.  John joined the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Fall of 2019 and then advanced to Faculty Associate in the Spring of 2022. John principally teaches courses and guides undergraduate students in the Health Care Compliance and Regulations curriculums for ASU's Edson CONHI.

John is a practitioner-scholar as he is a Deputy Inspector General with the State of Arizona’s state Medicaid program, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Office of Inspector General (OIG).  John is responsible for managing the Audit and Monitoring Compliance team; Post-Payment Audit team; Collection team; Admin team; and leading Performance Improvement activities within the OIG, to include division performance metrics.  Additionally, John coordinates the recruitment, selection, and supervision of ASU CONHI Compliance Interns with the OIG.
