Gav Orman (they/them) is an assistant teaching professor for environmental resource management at the Polytechnic School for Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. Their interests and specialities include environmental policy/regulation, industrial pollution prevention & safety, hazardous and solid waste management, contaminated site remediation, experiential learning, and career readiness.
Prior to coming to ASU, Gav worked with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality as a pollution prevention engineering specialist and hazardous waste permit writer. Prior to that, Gav was a wastewater treatment design consultant. During their time at Cal Poly, Gav worked with the California Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board and with local municipalities to regulate industrial wastewater and minimize pollution impacts. While earning their degrees, Gav participated in environmental design competitions and spent most of their time tinkering in various chemistry labs.
In their free time, Gav is a huge fiction reader and crafter - recently, they've been trying to grow pepper plants (trying being the key word here).
