Long Bio
John S. Gilkeson’s work focuses on the borderland between the humanities and the social sciences, with special attention to culture historians in American studies, anthropology, folklore, geography, linguistics and material culture studies. He is the author of "Middle-Class Providence, 1820-1940" (Princeton University Press) and "Anthropologists and the Rediscovery of America, 1886-1965" (Cambridge University Press).
