Long Bio
Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1998, Evan developed his love for nature attending Nature Camp in Vesuvius, Virginia as a youth. An active competitor Evan participated in swimming, soccer, cross country, and track teams in high school going on to play soccer at the D3 level in college for the Varsity Men's Soccer team at the University of Lynchburg. Evan also was an avid percussionist from the 6th grade on through Junior year of college in the Symphonic Winds Ensemble. Evan is an active yogi practicing for 7 years, as well as a lover of nature writing and journaling, an amateur botanist, fishing (rod and reel, as well as fly), hiking, pack packing, rock climbing, mountaineering, sky diving, and much more!
Evan has held numerous jobs spanning a number of fields pre- and post-graduation including: Intern with Friends of the Rappahannock, a non-profit river conservation group, staff member with Tree Fredericksburg, an urban forest restoration group, Marketing Specialist with Kaeser Compressors, a German air compressor company, Intern with The Land Institute, a perennial agriculture research organization, volunteer with ADOPTA Bosque, a Panamanian conservation and research organization, and Botany Counselor with Nature Camp, a youth environmental education summer camp.
He is currently completing the Masters of Sustainability Solutions program at ASU and will be looking to work as a sustainability coordinator for companies or governments upon graduation. Currently, Evan's scholarly interests revolve around establishing justice and equity for Indigenous groups, and the transition processes associated with these changes. He is also interested in the perennial agriculture and energy transitions. He currently works part-time on staff at ASU in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College as a Management Intern for the PEAIC (Preparing Educators for Arizona's Indigenous Communities) program.
Education
Evan received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Virginia in 2020 as a double major in Environmental Studies and Spanish. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Sustainability Solutions in the College of Global Futures at ASU.
Research Interests
Evan's undergraduate research centers around a thesis titled "Assessment of the Environmental and Economic Impacts of Fossil Fuel Subsidies" and evaluates research on this topic.
