Nasir Kaihan

Nasir Kaihan is a Ph.D. candidate in Education Policy and Evaluation at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. He graduated with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University through the Fulbright program in 2018.

Nasir has over 15 years of experience working in educational policy, programming evaluation and analysis, social integration, social cohesion, and peaceful co-existence among refugees, (im)migrants, IDPs, returnees, and host communities with UNESCO, advancement in higher education with the American University of Afghanistan, and international university partnership with USAID, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst Center for International Education in Afghanistan. His career and research interests lie in refugee education, girls' education, and the education of the most disadvantaged segments of society.

Nasir has led, attended, and presented at more than ten conferences and workshops in Afghanistan and internationally. Nasir served as a collaborator and co-organizer of Learning and Educating Across Refugee/(Im)migrant Networks (LEARN) –a project of the Learning Future Collaboratives, ASU’s MLFTC, between 2022 and 2024.

Nasir is currently serving as an Assistant Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning at Arizona State University, mainly spearheading research and evaluation for the Education for Humanity Initiative. Nasir is the founder and president of the Alekain Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit that expands access to accredited secondary education for Afghan girls who have been denied access to school.
