Long Bio
Sam Brierley is a PhD candidate, whose research focuses on how species, gender, and sexuality are interpreted together within 18th- and 19th-century British literature, especially in the contexts of fishing, hunting, and romantic courtship.
Her publications range from gendered histories of honeybees to articles using queer theory and disability studies to better understand trickster figures. Outside higher ed, Sam hopes to change public perceptions of less charismatic creatures so all creepy-crawlies can enjoy the spotlight some day.
