Maria Socorro Gonzalez Pyles is an interventionist with twenty years of experience in research studies ranging from cancer prevention, colon cancer prevention, and cancer-survivors. Currently she is co-facilitating the interventions such as CarePRO Virtual Plus (Care Partners Reaching Out), EPIC Virtual (Early-stage Partners in Care), and Parkinson’s partner in Care in English and Spanish. These interventions are caregiver workshops that provide skill-training, education, and focuses on reducing stress and enhancing well-being. Her work has been serving and working with the Hispanic/Latino community.
CarePRO virtual is a caregiver workshop series that focuses on family caregivers that helps care for someone with dementia or memory loss.
EPIC virtual is a caregiver workshop intervention to assist people with early-stage memory loss and their care partners.
Parkinson’s Partner in Care is a caregiver workshop intervention delivered via Zoom to assist people with Parkinson’s and their care partners.
She also conducts data collection, administers screenings, and forms part of the outreach team at Aging Successfully in Diverse Communities. She presents virtually or in person dementia awareness and study project overviews to agencies and public forums.
She has been a member of the HOPE Network since 2018. Helping Other Promotores Excel (HOPE) Network, established in 2009 in collaboration with Arizona State University’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, focuses on Promotores/ Community Health Workers in Maricopa County. They serve and help bridge cultural and linguistic barriers by increasing access to healthcare and improving health outcomes.
