Shannon Eaton

Dr. Shannon Eaton earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from California State University, Channel Islands, and her Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience from the University of Kentucky. She began her research career in psychopharmacology at California State University, San Bernardino, where she investigated the ontogeny of psychostimulant effects in Sprague Dawley rats. At the University of Kentucky, she transitioned to a quail model and was awarded a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) T32 training grant to support her research examining sex differences in alcohol pharmacokinetics and reward-related behavior in Japanese quail. Her research has been published in journals including Psychopharmacology, Poultry Science, Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology, and Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

Dr. Eaton is passionate about teaching and learning, with a particular interest in pedagogy and evidence-based instructional practices. She actively engages with professional organizations and scientific societies to support her continued development as an educator and contribute to the broader teaching and scientific communities. Including publishing in the Journal for Undergraduate Neuroscience.
