Aleksandra Gruzinska is an Emeritus Professor in the School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in French from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a doctorate in French from Pennsylvania State University.
Gruzinska's research interests include 19th century French literature [poetry, novel, drama, and French women], Octave Mirbeau, E. M. Cioran, George Sand, Nobel Prize Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska and Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz. Her longtime interests include exploring the fate of Children of War, unaccompanied Polish children in their trajectory of exile, homelessness, repatriation or immigration, from Poland to the U.S. via Germany, Austria, Italy, and Spain during WWII, from 1939 to 1951.
