Chaiyant Chanchang, Call sign “CC” was born in Bangkok, Thailand,
immigrated to the U.S. in 1996 and joined the United States Navy as enlisted
Air Warfare Specialist (Ground crew) for F-14 fighter jets from 1997-2001.
During his four years of active duty, he deployed with VF-14 Fighter Squadron
on board USS Roosevelt, supported Operation Allied Force, during 1999
Kosovo war. After his enlisted tour ended, he became a Case Officer to U.S. Department of Defense and supported Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in Kuwait and Iraq from 2001 -2006.
CC joined the FBI on August 17, 2006. He was assigned to FBI Los Angeles Field office and worked on mostly Counterintelligence cases, After a break in U.S. military service, CC returned to join the U.S. Naval Reserve Command as a Commissioned Officer. His first reserve tour was at Pacific Command (PACOM) in Hawaii, then he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan from 2011 – 2012 supported Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), as part of NATO Training team. He was embedded with the Army 82nd Airborne Ranger unit, his mission was to train Senior Afghan National Army (ANA), Senior Afghan National Police (ANP), and Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS). During his deployment, he survived a VBIED attack from the Taliban in 2011 but declined to accept the offer to return back home after treatment in combat theatre.
CC reported back to FBI Los Angeles in 2012 after his combat tour and resumed his duty, covered Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism and Cyberterrorism cases. He is also a certified FBI pilot, assisted multiple FBI Air operations. He is also a certified FBI Interview and Interrogation Instructor. In this role, he instructed Ghanaian Police at the request from FBI Legal Attaché office in Accra, Ghana. CC instructed Saipan Police at the request from FBI Guam and FBI Honolulu divisions. CC also helped FBI Bangkok, Thailand, and NCIS Middle East division on various occasions such as training and investigations due to his Thai language skills. CC again was recalled for active duty military service and deployed to the Persian gulf as Maritime Security co-Director for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) from 2017 – 2018. Chaiyant represented the U.S. Navy Maritime Security Operations and worked with FVEY partners (UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada). As Maritime Security Director with U.S. Central Command, CC led and led numerous operations, including a coalition team’s interdiction of a suspicious vessel in the Persian Gulf, carrying concealed drugs worth more than $400 million dollars that would have been used for terrorist funding.
His last duty with the U.S. Naval Reserve was with Top Gun squadron at Naval Air Station Fallon, NV. As Aviation Intelligence Instructor for Top Gun aviators and Naval Flight officers. He got out of the Navy as LT. Commander (SEL) with honorable discharge.
In 2016, CC accepted a new position as FBI Supervisor at FBI Phoenix division, his collateral duty was the Intelligence Advisor for FBI EAD (Executive Assistant Director) and retired in 2021.
Currently, CC is working as Senior Advisor for U.S. Department of War and as Adjunct Professor with Arizona State University, teaching Criminal Justice programs and Terrorism studies. CC will also be teaching at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Aeronautical Science program in 2026. CC is also College Advisory Board member for Los Angeles Mission College.
Dr. CC received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Assumption University, Master’s degree in Security Management from Webster University and Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University.
