Ravi Teja Chopparapu is a Ph.D. student in Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University with research interests in environmental health microbiology, sustainability, water conservation, and environmental systems. Originally from Vijayawada, India, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College before transitioning into interdisciplinary environmental research and sustainability-focused innovation.
His current research focuses on water conservation and sustainability in cooling tower systems in Arizona, along with microbial transport in subsurface environments. From December 2022 to January 2026, he was also involved in a regional water quality monitoring program across Central Arizona involving environmental sampling, field investigations, and environmental systems analysis.
Ravi Teja served as a Graduate Teaching Associate for CEE 467/567 (Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Health Microbiology) during Fall 2023, 2024, and 2025, supporting over 150 students through laboratory instruction, grading, and student mentorship.
Beyond academics, he has actively contributed to student leadership and innovation initiatives at ASU. He served as the elected President of the Graduate Student Government (GSG) in 2024, becoming the first Indian international student elected to the role and representing over 30,000 graduate students across the university. He also founded and led student initiatives focused on leadership, sustainability, and innovation. In Spring 2025, he was part of the Venture Devils eSeed Track winning teams and actively participated in multiple entrepreneurship, changemaker, and innovation initiatives across ASU.
His multidisciplinary experiences reflect a strong commitment to sustainability, student advocacy, research-driven innovation, and creating meaningful real-world impact.
