Long Bio
I am a Ph.D. student in the Environmental Life Science Program researching sinking particles found in the Sargasso Sea. The primary goal of my research is to determine the quantitative and qualitative differences between particle types and utilize DNA extractions to determine the relationship that sinking particles have with resident plankton. All my research contributes to the understanding of the biological carbon pump. I am a part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fellowship, where we improve current courses offered to students through a DEI outlook. My interests include climate change, marine biogeochemistry, environmental science, and Bloom’s Taxonomy. I hope to become a research professor at an R1 university where I will try to inspire a passion for STEM in the next generations.
