I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Environmental Life Science Program researching sinking particles found in the Sargasso Sea. The primary goal of my research is to determine the quantitative and qualitative differences between particle types and the organisms that feed on them: zooplankton. All my research contributes to the understanding of the biological carbon pump one of the most important mechanisms for controlling climate change. I was a part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fellowship, and I am currently working with CommSciCon to make scientific material more understandable. My interests include climate change, marine biogeochemistry, environmental science, and Bloom’s Taxonomy. I hope to become a research professor at a university where I will try to inspire a passion for STEM in the next generations.
