Atsuko Fukunaga is a quantitative ecologist and ecological statistician with a strong background in multivariate statistics. Her current research focuses on 3D analysis of coral reef habitats and their effects on the abundance and distribution of reef organisms. She leads quantitative assessments of the structural complexity of coral reefs utilizing underwater photogrammetric techniques and develops R and Python scripts that allow researchers to incorporate various metrics of reef structure into their assessments of coral reef ecosystems.
