Calvin Jude Stanley is an experienced Virtual Production Operator and Extended Reality (XR) specialist and serves as the Video Systems Technical Director at Arizona State University's Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center. With a Master’s degree in Extended Reality Technology, Calvin combines technical expertise with creative vision to develop immersive environments, mixed reality productions, and interactive experiences.
At the MIX Center, Calvin manages the Virtual Production Volume, overseeing everything from scheduling, programming media servers like Disguise and Pixera to designing Unreal Engine content, handling camera tracking systems, and operating DMX-controlled stage lighting. His hands-on approach and multidisciplinary skills ensure seamless integration of cutting-edge technology into creative projects.
Calvin also serves as the Community Lead for Unreal Engine’s Tempe and Mesa Community Chapter (UE at Tempe), fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among students, professionals, and enthusiasts in the field of immersive technology.
With professional experience as a User Experience Designer and Interaction Designer, Calvin brings a human-centered perspective to his work, emphasizing usability and interactivity in both virtual and physical environments.
Calvin is deeply interested in leveraging immersive and interactive technologies for impactful storytelling and innovation, whether through immersive productions or pioneering projects like Future Cities: Empowering Community Voices through Immersive Technology, which earned the President’s Medal for Social Embeddedness in 2024.
