Lifan Yu earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Human Development) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.S. in Psychology from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China). She joined the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences in Spring 2022. Her research interests center on individuals’ moral development and well-being under cross-cultural family contexts, particularly the development of forgiveness related to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and cultural differences on filial piety and authoritarian parenting. Grounded in social justice and the philosophy of moral virtues, she is also interested in post-hurt treatment (e.g. Forgiveness Therapy) toward homelessness and corrections, road rage, divorce hurt, and religious coping. Her teaching interests focus on Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology.
