Long Bio
Yajat Mehta is a junior at Arizona State University, double majoring in Business Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in Business. His fascination with analytics began in his early teens as he watched his parents use analytics in their business. From identifying top-selling products to mapping regional sales trends across India, Yajat saw firsthand how data-driven decisions could boost efficiency and drive growth, inspiring him to pursue data-driven problem-solving as a career.
Alongside his academic pursuits, Yajat has earned practical skills as a desk assistant at University Towers at ASU, where he has developed skills in problem-solving, customer service, and communication. Driven by his passion for analytics, he has completed several projects, In one of his project he analysed over 12,000 mortgage applications that revealed significant racial disparities, with a 31.02% denial rate for Black applicants compared to a 16.53% rate for White applicants. In another project with Intel’s Sustainability Team, Yajat created Tableau dashboards analyzing regional energy trends and recommended the Northwest region for a new data center, highlighting its 2.17 million MW net production and high renewable energy share.
Yajat is fluent in English and Hindi, with proficiency in Sanskrit and Punjabi, and is currently learning Japanese. He volunteers with ‘Keep Tempe Beautiful’ where he helps to clean the environment around Tempe Town Lake. He has been recognized as a Dean’s Scholar for three consecutive semesters for his academic achievement.
Outside academics, Yajat is passionate about soccer and volleyball, actively participating in intramural sports at ASU. Yajat is from New Delhi, India and is the youngest in his family.
