Long Bio
Kena leads instructional design and learning technologies under the direction of the Associate Dean of Online Innovation, Ian Gould, in the Office of the Dean in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The College is the largest and most diverse college at ASU, home of 21 schools and many centers within the divisions of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities.
Kena works to optimize teaching and learning experiences by innovating processes and initiating change through collaboration with a wide variety of partners, including ASU administration, faculty, EdPlus, Enterprise Technology, and peer leaders of other colleges across ASU.
She guides the adoption of learning technologies for The College, including leading change management for enterprise learning platform changeovers and contributing to high-impact dean and Provost initiatives.
She also leads Instructional Designer staffing, onboarding, and support for The College, and cultivates communities of practice for IDs and technologists. She is an advocate for diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and amplifies differing ideas and experiences to ensure all voices are heard.
Kena also serves as Chair of ASU's Instructional Technology Awareness Community (ITAC) and Chair of The College Digital Initiatives Committee (DIC).
Kena is currently pursuing her doctorate in Education Leadership and Innovation; her research aims to quantify the impact of instructional designers on course quality by measuring student and faculty experiences in online courses developed with and without IDs.
She has worked in online higher education since 2005. She lives in Tempe with her husband, stepdaughter, and dog. She spends her off hours renovating her home and practicing vinyasa yoga.
