Saurav Kumar

Kumar is an assistant professor and a member of the Hydrosystems Engineering group in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. His research interests lie in developing methods that integrate diverse and often disparate data streams to improve decision-making for sustainable water management. By bridging advances in hydrologic science, remote sensing, and data-driven modeling, his work seeks to address pressing challenges in water resources and environmental sustainability.

His current projects focus on several interrelated areas. These include the development of hybrid models that couple process-based and data-driven approaches to represent carbon and water system interactions; the integration of aerial and satellite-based remote sensing observations with water system models to improve monitoring and prediction capabilities; and the advancement of hyperspectral signal acquisition and processing methods to enable high-resolution detection of water and crop dynamics. Collectively, this research aims to provide new tools and frameworks that enhance the resilience and sustainability of water and environmental systems under changing climatic and societal conditions.
