Dr. Sarah Churgin is a veterinarian and a board-certified specialist in zoological medicine. She is a native of Tempe, Arizona and is thrilled to be part of the faculty at ASU. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Texas A&M University in 2009. Following veterinary school, Dr. Churgin completed five additional years of training to become a zoological medicine specialist, including a specialty internship at the Phoenix Zoo and a residency at the University of Wisconsin. She then spent eight years as a full-time zoological veterinarian at Ocean Park Hong Kong, caring for a wide range of aquatic and terrestrial species. During her tenure at Ocean Park, she also became certified in veterinary acupuncture and took additional training in veterinary palliative care and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. She loved her time living in Asia and is grateful for the personal and professional growth that it brought.
Dr. Churgin joined the faculty at ASU in the fall of 2022. She teaches and advises pre-veterinary students in addition to working with students from other related degree programs on our Poly campus. She is also an advisor for the ASU Pre-Vet Club and a mentor in the CISA Emerging Professionals program.
